Hobbies and Interests:
 | Meditation and contemplation. I take time for
prayer, meditation
and contemplation everyday I can go without a lot of sleep for
days at a
time, but not without this special time for myself each day. It keeps me going!

 | My Family and Friends
|
 | READING! I love to read almost anything. Give
me a book and I am happy!
I totally love my KINDLE, an electronic reading device which allows me to
have about 50-60+ books on it at any one time. Traveling as I do, it's come
in handy and save precious luggage space and reduces the weight!
|
 | Animals!
I love all of my animal friends, and spend a lot of time with them. (Click here to see them, and
several others, who are in spirit now)
We have 20 acres and a large fenced area, so they have plenty of room, have
fun, yet are safe - and
don't bother anyone.
I also love birds. Some live outdoors and some
inside. Our Peafowl (peacocks) are really interesting.
I have
several types of pet birds and game birds
and am always in the process of changing and setting up their pens and breeding cages.
(click HERE to see some of them)
The Button Quail are so tiny and perfect. I have some photos of them
hatching. (click
HERE to see them)

MUSIC! Love to listen to music as I work or play. I love all
kinds!
I also play piano and keyboards. Playing and composing is
one of my favorite ways to relax.
|
 | Flowers and plants.
I
have over 100 plants in my home! It relaxes me to take care of
them.

The Order of the Eastern
Star.
Some people think that the downwards pointing star of the Order is
satanic! Nothing could be father from the truth! The "Star
of the East" is Bethlehem's star, pointing to the place of Christ's birth. The
Order's five star points signify five heroines of the bible. Five
courageous women that anyone would be proud to look to for inspiration. Over
the years, I have heard (and said) the same words from the ritual,
said over and over, and the stories can still move me to tears.
I became a 25 year
member of the Order of the Eastern Star a few years ago. I'm a Past Matron (1995) of Silver
Star Chapter #53 in beautiful downtown Benson, Arizona.
My involvement with the Masonic fraternal organizations began when I was
13. I have never had any knowledge of or interest in the alleged
darker secrets of the Masons. I loved the spiritual aspects of the groups. I joined the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls
in 1968 and was immediately intrigued by the beautiful and spiritual ritual
work, much of which comes from the bible.
I
went on to become a "Worthy Advisor" in 1972, of Willow Glen
Assembly #199, in San Jose California. In the fall of 1970, I joined
the International Order of Jobs Daughter's, to play the piano for Bethel
#298, in Campbell, California. I've played for many, many Masonic
organizations and to this day can play almost any piece of music at a tempo that you won't be able to keep your feet still listening to!
My Dad, James Whitfield, joined the Masons in 1968 and presided as
Worshipful Master of Charity Lodge in Campbell, California. He has been
Worthy
Patron in Eastern Star, in three different Chapters in California and Arizona
and has served as Patron six or seven times. His wife, my
fantastic, loving step-Mom, Edith, has been Worthy Matron four times.
They currently live near Prescott, Arizona and attend Chapter there. I still belong to Horizon
#69, in
Arizona, although I have been to busy to attend lately.
I was Chapter Organist of
all the Chapters I belonged to, plus a few more in California. I don't really play the organ... I use a
keyboard or piano.
I'm not active right now, for the first time in my life, but as I get older, I'll probably
go back for the ritual work, music and the fellowship.
The Masonic orders are all separate, but they are called fraternal because
the members are encouraged to support one another as brothers and sisters --
a noble ideal. I love the community service aspect of the various
Orders, as I believe we all need to give back to the community that we live
in, but I think that the beautiful memory work is what sets these
organizations apart.
I collect Eastern Star memorabilia and have a several pins and
books that
are pre-1900.
